Lauren Kruszyna is a Vermont native who moved to California ten years ago when she swapped the Green Mountain State for the land of sunshine, avocados, and Hollywood. A full-time teacher with a background in literature and writing, Lauren spends her days educating the youth of America, guiding them through the worlds of Wonder, Holes, and confusing Common Core math worksheets that make her question her life choices.
When she’s not molding young minds (or praying the copier won’t jam for once), Lauren is deep in the world of murder mysteries. In her free time, she writes twisty, suspense-filled stories, often accompanied by a large glass of wine and the slightly irrational belief that she could totally solve a crime if given the case files.
Lauren’s latest creative venture has been stand-up comedy, a career she’s pursued for the last two years with the same relentless dedication she applies to her teaching (which means she shows up, does the job, and hopes for the best). She’s been known to blend her love of literature with dark humor, dissecting everything from middle school awkwardness to the existential dread of being a grown-up who eats chips & dip for dinner on occasion.
In her comedy, Lauren explores the ridiculousness of life, teaching, and attempting to navigate adulthood with the finesse of someone who knows way too much about The Great Gatsby. Her comedy is like her writing: sharp, witty, and occasionally filled with the woes of being a teacher nowadays.
Whether she’s cracking up a room with her wit, solving fictional murders in her own head, or just trying to get her students to stop making Tik toks in the middle of class, Lauren is always up to something interesting.
